Question:

I wanted to ask what camera everyone uses, and why they chose the one they did?

i shoot with a Nikon D200. I chose this camera with my husbands help, he's my tech guru! and mostly because Nikon ranks number one across the board in most reviews. i LOVE my camera and highly recommend Nikon to everyone!

i shoot with the nikon D300. i just upgraded from the nikon D40x because not all my lenses could autofocus with it. the D300 also has a 52 point focus mode which really helps i think. i wasn't really planning on going all out on my upgrade, but i figured i just do it now and keep this one for a really long time. and i'm lovin' it so far! (it really user friendly too.)

what camera are you thinking about gettind

I shoot with a Nikon D60 and I just ordered the new D90, because, well, its awesome! I hesitated spending the $$ on a new one, when mine is perfectly fine. But the new D90 has been calling my name..... I LOVE NIKONS!

Laurie I own a Canon Rebel XTI. I choose it for two three reasons. I read a million reviews and Nikon and Canon almost always run neck in neck in the photo world. Reason two is that my Mom owns a very exspensive Nikon and loves it but says that if she were going to do it all over again she would get a Canon because she feels Canon makes better optics. Third, my good friend Bill (you can see his site on the side bar of my family blog...Bill the photo king) shoots with a simple Canon Rebel XTI and gets the most amazing pictures. So I figured Costco was offering a steal of a deal, consumer reports grades the two companies at neck and neck and people I know and respect their skills like Canon. However...all of our good friends with crazy mad skills here in Dupont have Nikons...so to sum it all up you can't go wrong. By them both from Costco, test them both out and keep the one that talks to you (is more user friendly for you). Have fun shopping:-)

PS you will find that Canon people are Canon people and Nikon people are Nikon people and it is almost based on genes more than the cameras preformance;-)

I have the Nikon D40x. It was a good price point for getting my feet wet in this hobby! I love it and still need to figure out everything it can do (I've never shot in manual mode!)
